SKULLS

I can't help it... I'm drawing skulls again... I've been leaving the subject as "inherently" part of the recent work I've been doing, like... it's implied there's the sentiment of skull and bones there without having to actually RENDER anything, it's always been there, so lets just move on, move forward... but these days I just can't help myself... there's a lot of power in that sort of imagery. Expect some serious skullery by the end of the summer...

NEWJERSEY

Tomorrow evening Lukas Geronimas will be showing some new work at the studio I share with JRJ, Please come over and check it out, should be awesome.
in Lukas' words:
"Hi!
I've been in Toronto for the month, although much of the time I've been up north at my family cottage in the Kawarthas making work and roasting marshmallows etc, and I will leave this wednesday to head back to school upstate NY, and so the work that I've done, which I'd like you to come see, will be on display at Niall and Jeremy's (New Jersey) this Tues. The invitation is attached, and I hope you can come by, and since my e-mail contacts list is not that comprehensive, I hope you can ask your friends who may or may not also be my friends to come with you. Bring drinks or whatever, right?
See you!
Lukas"

Got back a few days ago from Montreal where I was hanging around setting up my exhibit "Losers" at the Emporium Gallery. I had a great week and the exhibit turned out as planned, I was pretty stoked to say the least.
Thanks again Ben!

SEER

I've been working on a new project lately with my studio mate Jer Jansen, we're putting together this large campaign for a certain, fairly prominent, boooooze hustler. I won't get into it, but it's a great fit.
We've developed a site to show some behind the scenes process shots, take a look if you have some time!

Pommier

Good bud Andy Pommier FINALLY went and updated his website!
These two drawings are amongst my favourite of the new work... something about the tone tells me you're getting a little tired of the DTES, eh buddy? I don't blame ya. I left too!
Seeya on Monday Stretch!

Manik
Here's a quick shot of a series of decks I designed for Manik Skateboards, I imagine they'll be available any day now. I think they turned out pretty slick, we've also got a corresponding series of tees to match. Thanks Nin, thanks Eric!
p.s. See Catherine, I do use colour! I just CHOOSE not to most of the time. Its a restraint thing.

DavidSmith

I will be showing new work this month at the David B Smith Gallery in Denver, with Ricky Allman and Grant Barnhart. The work has been down there for a few weeks, getting framed up nicely and prepped, and Grant flew out to hang the show a few days ago(to say he's good at that would be a slight understatement), the opening is this Thursday, April 2nd and it runs until April 25th.
This is going to be sharp. Thanks Guys!
Check out the website for more info.
Wish I could be there...

Poems

A few new-ish pieces I exhibited at the Winter gallery with Jesse Harris back in October.
I focused a lot on typography when I was in school, it was a bit of an obsession for a few years. can you tell?
It's a love/hate relationship.

Lukas Geronimas "How Art Thou...Buurger"

The Winter Gallery is proud to present the first Canadian solo exhibition in the southern provinces by the obscure, Lithuanian born, American artist Lukas Geronimas, "How Art Thou ...Buurger".
The show runs from Feb.4th till some old Portugese man rips the work down.
Raised in the Gulag with his grandmama, Lukas escaped with most of his limbs, and now lives and works in New York under the pen name Lulu Lickspittle, a nod to the beloved character from his favourite novel, "Bequeath thy Innards". The artist will not be present at the opening due to a slight case of hyper-dementia, his Achilles heal. He sends his warm regards and offers free raisins for all.

"Everything Sucks Today"

Some shots from saturdays' newsprint project giveaway, I thought I'd drag some palettes in to display the newsprints in replace of "plinths", after all this was how the papers were stacked when I picked them up from the warehouse. Anyways, great afternoon, plenty of good people came by to pick up a copy, now i just need to figure out what to do with the remaining 1500+ copies...
Thanks to Anne Koyama and Koyama Press for backing the whole project, I owe you!
P.S. If you'd like a copy please get in touch and we'll figure out how to get you a couple.

NewPaper

I recently printed off a newspaper project through Koyama Press and I'm giving as many away as I can:
This Saturday, Jan.31st
from 1-6pm
at my studio(1424 apt#3 Dundas St. West @ Gladstone)
So come by if you can, I'm also accepting trades... although the paper is free so trades are just for good times, and I like good times.
P.S. Oh, there will be food and drinks for cheapskates.
P.P.S. Toronto.

DK zine/exhibit

Some shots from the opening of the DethKills exhibit at POV Gallery in Los Angeles that I participated in. I think its up for the month? Go down for a peak at the work if you're in town!
This was in the project room of the space, while Derek Albeck(who puts out the DK zine) was having his first solo exhibit in the main space.
Looks a like a good time and a great exhibit space, thanks for getting me involved Derek!
DeathStorm - We are DeathStorm
I just received a copy of the Deathstorm LP i had designed with Lukas(as Fighting Projects)last year, looks awesome, sounds awesome!
I'm really happy with how the clear vinyl turned out too, pretty badass.
Nice, thick, matte cardstock for the sleeve as well, totally essential.
Click the link to listen to some aural destruction...
I'm actually currently working on the cover for their new 7", how can I describe the imagery thus far... hmmm... many, many maggots.
